Sequin Mermaids

Alberta Ferretti Spring ready to wear 2013. I'm not usually that bothered with Alberta Ferretti's designs, but I like these because they look like mermaidy sirens.

Rodarte goes to the opera

Another Rodarte related post showing Laura and Kate Mulleavy's most recent delve in to costume design, this time for the opera Don Giovanni. All photos by Autumn De Wilde. The Rodarte sisters have already proven their talents when it comes to costume design, after designing the beautiful costumes in the movie Black Swan. I always feel that their runway collections tell a story, so costume design is really a natural progression. And I mean, just look how pretty they are-

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 campaign, shot by Juergen Teller. I liked these photos because they look like 40's school girls who have wondered slightly off the dirt path and have gotten lost some barren farmers field. It just doesn't look like a fashion advertisement. The girls are dusty and sickly looking, the colours are washed out, and they just look fed up.

Dream zoo

Photos I think, for Material Girl Magazine, shot by Marie Zucker. Hazy photos with cuuuuute little elephants and tigers hiding in the background. Also, how cool are those jewelled Polaroid's?

Rodarte and Nan Gouldin

Rodarte for Grey Magazine, shot by Nan Gouldin. I know that most of the editorials I post all have a similar aesthetic, but this one seems a little more on the edge that the last few. The girls are pale and waifish, and stand with smudged make up and cigarette in hand, rather than looking ethereal in a wood. I like the second photo best. She's just there in a dingy bedsit, wearing a beautiful Rodarte gown. When I (someday) move in to my own flat, this is how I will aspire to live. Except maybe the whole heroin chic thing, but Rodarte dresses, yes please.
