The Lady Of Shalott

These photos are from an editorial in Vogue Italia, and were shot by Ellen Von Unwerth, and (I think) styled by Leith Clark. They reminded me of two of my favourite paintings- The Lady Of Shalott by John William Waterhouse, and Ophelia by Millais. They have the same kind of dreamy, ethereal beauty. I was lucky enough to see Ophelia in real life when it was at the Tate gallery a few years ago, and its really amazing. You cant tell from the picture underneath, but its actually pretty big, so on a grand scale its really impressive.
Also, I just did a guest post for Gossip Gonzesse if anyone's interested, but you should check out her blog anyway because its amazing :)

Orla Kiely, 70's babe

So this isnt a new campaign from Orla Kiely, but I wanted to share it anyway. Its from waaaay back in a/w 2010 (Okay, so its not that long ago) and is photographed by Venitia Scott, who has done a lot of Orla's other campaigns. How cool are these photo's? I love that theres a photo of the model dancing around and having fun instead of just looking all serious and sultry like most other advertisements. Also, she manages to make wood paneling look stylish and un-sauna like, which I thought was a near impossible task. I had to restrain myself to only posting these photos for now, because there have been so many beautiful campaigns- But ill save them for another day.

Red Rock Fashion Competition

The lovely people at Red Rock Fashion are currently running a competition where you can win yourself a  load of free swag. All you have to do is pick one or more items from their website, and make a post showing how you would style your outfit. So not to miss out on the opportunity of winning free stuff, here's my entry:

Dress- Red rock, Coat- Zara, Bag- Red Rock, Shoes- Topshop, Hair Clip- Etsy, Earrings- Etsy, Sunglasses- Etsy, Tights- Asos.   -None of the photos above belong to me.

At the moment I have a minor obsession with 60's mod style. Like I actually spend most of my free time (which at the moment is a lot) just making lists of pretty things on etsy, and trying to find vintage bargains online. I really need to go outside more. So when I was browsing through Red Rock's website and saw this gorgeous mini dress, I knew that my hours of Internet trawling would come in to play. You cant really tell on the above picture, but it actually has small studs around the neckline, giving it a cool punky edge and stopping it from looking too sickeningly girly. It also has the coolest retro flower print.
The rest of the outfit is just a collection of things I wish I could buy right now. The coat is quite mod also, and is in a great pale yellow colour. I'm in love with the shoes, and am actually going to order them as soon as I get paid (THURSDAY!!!) The heel is only small, so you could wear them to walk in, instead of just painfully hobbling everywhere, and the jewels are glitzy enough that you could wear them on a night out, or just in the day. And finally just a few lovely things from etsy to add some crafty awesomeness to the look. Hope you guys like it, and check out the competition yourselves- Its free!

Eugenio Recuenco

Today I'm sharing an editorial by my favourite fashion photographer Eugenio Recuenco. No, I don't know how you say it either. I like these photos, because I can imagine them being stills taken from a film about two women who are on the run from the police after committing a bank robbery or some other stereotypical crime. Has anyone seen that episode of the Simpson's (I know) where marge befriends a bad ass lady and goes on the run? They end up speeding away in to the desert towards a cliff, and skid just in time before tumbling to their deaths. Its a parody of Thelma and Louise, but since I haven't seen that film I have to reference the Simpson's.

Bedroom

I just thought id take some photo's  of my room, because I have taken quite a bit of time painstakingly sticking stuff all over it. Its not the most gripping post I've ever done, but I tried to take photos of some of the more interesting things I own. Also there's a photo of me with a freakishly big hand. I'll hopefully be doing some outfit posts soon instead of just showing other peoples work all the time.

Becoming Margot Tennenbaum

So just in case your in love with Margot Tennenbaum like myself, I thought id put together a little post paying tribute to one of my favourite fictional ladies. Although Margot's fur coat and tennis dress combo is pretty much ever present throughout the film, ive used my ingenuity, and in sifted through a few Margot inspired looks ive collected. enjoy!

"I think we're just gonna to have to be secretly in love with each other and leave it at that, Richie."

Michal Pudelka

Ive spent most of my day admiring these beautiful photos by Michal Pudelka. He doesn't use photoshop to retouch or edit any of the models in his images, which is refreshing considering almost every advertisement today shows women with perfectly smooth pore less skin. Although he does use typically 'modelesque' girls- thin, white, I still think its great that he allows his models to remain looking like actual people, and not some creepy life sized barbie dolls. I love the fact that he makes all of his shots look like the most colour coordinated girl gang/ cult members ever.
